WAVERIDER is a family-friendly, ocean adventure that brings new audiences through the door and invites them to catch a ride on the gnarly inflatable wave after the show!

A thrilling physical theatre ocean adventure!
Get swept up in a thrilling ocean adventure in WAVERIDER, a family-friendly, physical performance that will have you going back in for more.
Catching waves, paddling out beyond the break, getting dumped! These are the classic, irresistible moments that bring us back to the beach, and call up cherished memories of seaside holidays.
Performed on a gnarly inflatable wave, this new work by Legs On The Wall reflects on the marine life who call the ocean their home, and the importance of looking after each other when plunging into the deep.
After the show, it’s your turn to catch a ride, and show us your sick moves on our swelling barrel wave! Don’t miss it!
"WAVERIDER continues to cement our deep connection to the water, whether you visit the beach daily or cherish memories of summer camping trips on the coast. The production combines outdoor theatre with a physical experience, inviting the audience to jump in and become a WAVERIDER themselves. PRESENTATION MODELS
WAVERIDER is a highly marketable, fun experience that can be presented either in a large indoor space or, for maximum visibility, outdoors. It can be presented as a free, audience-building initiative that augments parallel ticketed programming (see Art House case study below), or as a ticketed event. The gnarly wave can also be installed at other Council facilities, like the local swimming pool or sports field, to generate awareness and engagement in Council’s cultural facilities and activities.

"As a principal commissioning partner, we were excited to present WAVERIDER. From the beginning, we approached WAVERIDER as a community engagement project to support the rest of the ticketed children’s program.
The event was run as a free event which made it attractive on its own but also became a value-add to existing ticket holders of other shows, as we timed the WAVERIDER performances so they could be enjoyed together. Those coming initially for a 1 hour show then spent more time at the theatre and got more value for their visit, with most travelling 30-45 minutes to get here.
It was highly successful in turning new audiences into ticket-buyers and repeat visitors, as many came back to attend the next shows in the program.
WAVERIDER's strength lies in the combination of an interactive element alongside a performance. The sheer size and visual presence of the set in our courtyard was highly shareable and attractive for marketing.
The production could be presented from gardens, halls, swimming pools, open community spaces, or right out the front of your arts centre as a free or a ticketed event.
To keep costs down we utilised permanent staff as crowd control and playtime supervisors which made it an enjoyable time for all."
