Arts on Tour’s sector development program leads on best practice in touring, connects artists, companies and presenters, and builds touring capacity to support a sustainable arts sector. Current initiatives are:

  • Green Touring
  • Salon
  • Tour Lab
  • Tour Well
  • Backroads Initiative

AOT started the Green Touring Initiative in 2019 with the aim of providing tools and strategies to minimise emissions and work towards carbon neutral touring, so that the positive impacts of our touring activity at a community level don’t cost the planet. The outcomes of this Initiative, The Green Touring Toolkit and accompanying resources, and Arup's emissions calculator Circulate, were launched in 2022.

Tour Well is Arts on Tour's mental health initiative, aimed at providing best practice touring practices in relation to mental health on the road. Working in collaboration with the Arts Wellbeing Collective we have developed the resource Tour Well for Tour Managers. We are also committed to hosting regular Mental Health First Aid Training courses for NSW-based companies.
