Following sell-out seasons at Sydney Opera House and Arts Centre Melbourne, 'the Fruities’ latest awe-inspiring extravaganza is a circus variety show with a fabulous original score. These young performers will flip, fly and play their way into your heart!
The Fruit Flies and their effortlessly playful antics could make any kid in the audience want to get up and give it a go.
When the orchestra hasn't shown up and the audience is waiting, call the Flying Fruit Fly Circus!
A highly distinguished musician has arrived to conduct their latest symphony, but the orchestra is nowhere to be found. Fortunately, the Fruities are ready to save the day! And create chaos with the concert grand piano…
Directed by Jake Silvestro with an original score by Ania Reynolds, Tempo features an extraordinary ensemble of young performers aged between 12 and 18 who not only possess dazzling circus skills but in some acts also play instruments!
Shifting between striking aerial acts and highly choreographed acrobatic chaos, Tempo draws heavily on the traditional knockabout humour of the Flying Fruit Fly Circus – a trademark of the company over many years. Magic, slapstick, juggling, balancing, acrobatics and aerials tumble in, out and around a white concert grand piano, designed and built for the show.
With no dialogue and plenty of gasp-inducing action, Tempo appeals to every age and is suitable, or perhaps essential, for all families.
Australia’s Flying Fruit Fly Circus is one of the world’s premier youth performing arts companies. In 1979 it began as a local circus project for school kids. Since then ‘the Fruities’ have tumbled their way into the hearts of millions of people throughout Australia and the world. They combine energy, expertise, and commitment to demonstrate in a most spectacular and joyful way, the limitless potential of young people.
Based in Albury-Wodonga, the Fruities not only perform, but also attend school at the Flying Fruit Fly Circus School, and train up to 20 hours a week at our state-of-the-art training facility. The full-time select-entry training program caters for children aged 8 – 18 years old, and includes dedicated circus skills development and creative classes, as well as bespoke fitness and conditioning programs.
Training together, the Fruities have a developed sense of group pride, self-confidence, and achievement. Today the Flying Fruit Fly Circus is an institution of national and international significance, touring acclaimed circus productions all over Australia and the world.
