ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY IN THE ARTS SECTOR

There are arts organisations large and small across the sector taking action to reduce their environmental impact, but it’s not easy to find them. This page is about celebrating the successes of organisations that have established sustainability policies and plans and are either already carbon neutral, or have committed to being carbon neutral (net zero emissions) by a target date.

Arts on Tour has committed to being net zero by 2024. If you’re interested in what we’re doing visit here.

Already net zero? Or have you made a net zero commitment? Tell us and we’ll list you here!

MAKING THE NET ZERO COMMITMENT
The touring organisations partnering on The Green Touring Toolkit are committed to a net zero emissions future. The following organisations have set a date and have committed Arts on Tour’s Net Zero Commitment Statement and to being carbon neutral:

  • Bell Shakespeare (2030)
  • CDP Theatre Producers (2030)
  • Critical Stages (2030)
  • Monkey Baa Theatre Company (2030)

Other organisations that have made the Net Zero Commitment are:

  • Flying Fruit Fly Circus (2030)

Net Zero Commitment Statement
We commit to net zero emissions across our operations by:

  • Measuring emissions, setting reduction targets, and developing an action plan to reduce emissions from energy usage, procurement, travel, food and waste
  • Working to implement reduce and redesign strategies across the entire process of making, presenting and touring performing arts productions, working hand in hand with the artists, creatives and suppliers we collaborate with
  • Working with our touring venue partners to reduce operational and audience emissions associated with presenting performances on tour
  • Identifying emissions throughout our value chain and choosing suppliers with sustainable practices and commitment to net zero emissions
  • Sharing climate action knowledge and resources with other arts organisations to support the adoption of carbon reduction goals across the sector
  • Advocating to our stakeholders, suppliers and government to adopt ambitious emission reduction targets

Ready to make a commitment? You can adopt Arts on Tour’s Net Zero Commitment Statement or develop your own. Once you’ve made a commitment and set a target date, tell us
