Arts on Tour’s sector development program leads on best practice in touring, connects artists, companies and presenters, extends audience reach, and builds touring capacity to support a sustainable arts sector. In 2026, Arts on Tour's Sector Development Program comprises:
AOT’s Green Touring initiative started in 2020 with the development of The Green Touring Toolkit and the integration of emission reduction strategies into AOT’s touring services and operations. Following the success of our 2024 and 2025 Green Online Series, in 2026, we are partnering with Theatre Green Book Australia (TGBA) again to present the TGBA Online Series: a free, four-part series in March 2026, diving into the brand-new Second Edition of the TGBA.
Salon is Arts on Tour’s key annual industry event that builds relationships between NSW and ACT artists, producers and presenters, creating opportunities for touring and partnerships.
The Clinic is our phone support service available to artists and producers who have questions about getting a show on the road.
Tour Ready Tour Fit is a new pilot initiative to support skills development for touring crew.
Backroads was launched in 2022 to support the touring of professional work to non-professional venues, with the aim of extending our audience reach and activating alternative venues in smaller towns across NSW.
Tour Lab covers practical advice on how to get your work on the road, including budgeting and a venue perspective on programming and audience engagement. There's lots of opportunity to ask questions from experienced teams and venue managers and much more!
“AOT’s reach across the country and the calibre of your work is next level. I have found it invaluable to have you work as ‘tour coaches’ providing advice and support but having me develop the tour - and all the skills/networks that go behind that.”
Tour Well is Arts on Tour's mental health initiative, aimed at providing best practice touring practices in relation to mental health on the road. Working in collaboration with the Arts Wellbeing Collective we developed the resource Tour Well for Tour Managers and host regular Mental Health First Aid Training courses for NSW-based companies.
Engage!
Contemporary Asian Australian Performance and Arts on Tour share a common goal: to enrich our regional stages with diverse stories and artists, engaging audiences, and communities alike. The Engage! Report and Toolkit, a collaboration between CAAP and AOT, distils insights from the 2022 Double Delicious tour into practical steps for touring presenters and venues across Australia. Arts on Tour is based in Redfern NSW and we respectfully acknowledge the Gadigal people as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the unceded land on which we work.
As we tour artists and productions across these vast lands, we pay our respect to all First Nations Elders, past, present and future.
We celebrate their continuing connection and contribution to culture, country and community, and thank all First Nations peoples for their wisdom in caring for the land, the sky, the rivers and the sea.
