Marketing and Engagement Coordinator

Arts on Tour is seeking a motivated and passionate Marketing and Engagement Coordinator to manage the marketing requirements for Australia’s most prolific performing arts touring organisation. This highly connected role places you at the heart of the performing arts industry, building sector knowledge and developing relationships with companies, artists and venues across the country, whilst maximising the impact of what we do for communities and audiences.

Arts on Tour is a dynamic and purpose-driven organisation. Based in Redfern, we are the peak body for performing arts touring in NSW. Our overarching purpose is to bring culturally distinctive and resonant arts experiences to metropolitan and regional towns across the country, and maximise the lasting impact of this activity for communities and audiences, artists and the sector.

Funded by Create NSW, we are widely recognised as leading on best practice in touring. Our core service is working collaboratively with NSW-based producing companies and presenting venues nationally to develop and deliver tours of a range of productions across all genres. Our program also includes events and initiatives that build touring capacity across the sector, broaden the reach of professional work to more remote communities, and maximise the impact of touring productions in the communities we work with.

 We work with companies large and small, including Sydney Dance Company, Belvoir Theatre and Monkey Baa Theatre Company. You will be joining a busy team of passionate people who are driven by the impact of the work we do on individuals and communities across Australia.

 This role is integral to all aspects of Arts on Tour’s program. Reporting jointly to the Executive Director and the Touring Services Manager, you will work with producing companies to ensure marketing materials for our tours are effective and of a consistently high quality, and to develop marketing strategies for regional audiences. Working with the Touring Services Manager you will also schedule and coordinate marketing and engagement activity to accompany performances. You will proof marketing collateral on behalf of producers and liaise with venues around the country to ensure accuracy and brand consistency.

 Working with the Executive Director, you will also manage the Arts on Tour brand, including our regular communications, website and social media profiles, as well as develop campaigns for Arts on Tour’s sector building initiatives.

Tour Marketing

Provide marketing services to support AOT’s tour development and tour delivery activity:

  • Support the tour development process by working with touring companies to collate information and build website pages for the productions we are developing tours for
  • Provide advice and support to companies and venues on marketing and engagement strategies for upcoming AOT tours
  • Support touring companies to produce high quality marketing materials that will engage regional audiences
  • Organise video conference sessions between AOT, touring companies and receiving venues to discuss marketing strategies for upcoming tours
  • Develop and implement tour specific marketing resources in consultation with the touring companies and venues including campaign plans, digital content strategies and subscription brochure support materials
  • Work closely with AOT’s Touring Services Manager to schedule and organise community and audience engagement activities, such as workshops and masterclasses, in the tour itinerary
  • Coordinate publicity requests from venues with the touring company
  • Manage the distribution of marketing materials to venues in line with best practice timelines
  • Facilitate communication between Producers and Presenters on marketing issues and opportunities as they arise
  • Stay abreast with best practice campaign marketing to inform the advice and services we offer

 Brand Management

Manage Arts on Tour’s brand, profile and online presence:

  • Manage Arts on Tour’s website and corporate marketing material, including writing copy and sourcing imagery
  • Develop and maintain brand consistency across AOT’s communications including tone of voice, image treatment and design
  • Build Arts on Tour’s social media presence and profile
  • Manage Arts on Tour’s database and analyse qualitative and quantitative data to report on the impact of Arts on Tour’s activities
  • Manage relationships with key contractors including photographers, website developers and graphic designers

Sector Development

Market events and workshops to build touring capacity and connectivity across the sector:

  • Develop and manage marketing campaigns for sector-building activities such as Arts on Tour’s Salon events, Touring Workshop, Mental Health First Aid courses and other events
  • Support the organisation of these events alongside Arts on Tour’s Project Manager



  • 3+ years generalist marketing experience
  • 2+ years experience in the performing arts sector or entertainment industry
  • Bachelor Degree in Marketing or a related field
  • Excellent communication skills with a flair for writing and an eye for design
  • Excellent attention to detail with high standards for the accuracy and quality of materials produced
  • Strong organisation skills with the ability to keep track of multiple projects and timelines
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Sound knowledge of Photoshop, website CMS and email programs such as Wordpress and Mailchimp
  • Passion for and high level knowledge of key social media platforms
  • Creative and strategic thinker
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders with strong relationship building skills
  • Aptitude for or experience in data collection and analysis and database management
  • Hands-on event management experience
  • Interest in the social impact of arts experiences
  • Generous with time and skills, comfortable in a high-performance culture
  • Ability to take responsibility and exercise initiative
  • Ability to work in accordance with AOT systems and policies

  • Start date: ASAP
  • Full-time, 12 month fixed term contract*
  • Salary range $57,500 - $62,500 plus 9.5% super
  • Reports to the Executive Director
  • Place of work: Arts on Tour office in Redfern
  • Normal hours of work are 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday, but the appointee may be required to work outside of these hours from time to time

 *This is an ongoing role. Employment is offered on a contract basis due to government funding cycles.
